Robert C. Schoen, PhD

Prior to joining Research Down Syndrome, Dr. Schoen was President, Medical Device Testing Consultancy, a firm which specializes in in vitro Diagnostics development, manufacturing and testing consulting. He was employed for 23 years with Abbott Laboratories, where he held a variety of management positions in Abbott Diagnostics, including Research and Development, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing. Dr. Schoen obtained a Doctorate in Human Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, and conducted post-doctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Schoen resides in Chicago, Illinois.

Daniel K. Flatley

Daniel K. Flatley is General Partner, Masthead Ventures, and has over 30 years of experience investing in early-stage information technology, media and telecommunications companies. Prior to joining Masthead, Mr. Flatley was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette where he was global head of a group investing in and financing satellite and telecommunications companies. Previously, Mr. Flatley was a principal in a mid-market buyout and M&A advisory firm. He holds an AB from the University of Notre Dame, a JD from Georgetown University School of Law and a MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Flatley has a twelve year old son with Down syndrome. Mr. Flatley resides in New Vernon, New Jersey.

Patricia A. White, MD

Dr. Patricia White is a board certified Internist and Fellow of the American Academy of Physicians. Dr. White received her M.D. from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. After completing her internship and residency in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital, Pennsylvania, she joined the Department of Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, where Dr. White was actively involved in medical student education and residency training, was an investigator in several clinical trials, and served as the Director of the outpatient medical clinic at Westchester County Medical Center and Director of the Medical Research Associates Headache Center. She retired in 2001 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. 

Dr. White and her husband have five children, including a son who has Down syndrome. In addition to her involvement with numerous local and national advocacy activities, Dr. White has been a leading participant in the Down syndrome cognitive research effort. In addition to her involvement in Down syndrome cognitive research initiatives, she participates in numerous local and national support and advocacy activities on behalf of those with Down syndrome. Dr. White resides in New Vernon, New Jersey.

Mary Beth Schoen

Mary Beth Schoen is an Account Director, Client Relations at R/P Marketing Public Relations in Holland, Ohio. Ms. Schoen has over 30 years experience in planning marketing strategies and supervising program development and implementation for clients in the architectural/building products, pharmaceutical/healthcare, industrial manufacturing, finance, automotive, and business consulting services markets. Areas of her expertise include brand development, including international launch programs for pharmaceutical and architectural products. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana. Ms. Schoen resides in Sylvania, Ohio.
